Adobe Flash Flaw Results in Vista Exploit
Pwn To OwnThe Pwn To Own contest at CanSecWest which focuses on rewarding hackers for gaining access to systems has brought to realization a new flaw. Hackers at this contest were only allowed to target the operating system directly on the first day. On the second day hackers could target "standard" operating system applications. This ultimately ended up with only a hacker being able to break through the MacBok Air. Then on the third day users were allowed to target "popular" software for the operating systems. This allowed hackers to gain access to the Windows Vista machine by finding a undiscovered Adobe Flash flaw. The hackers won $5,000 cash and they get to keep the laptop. Untouched during the competition was a laptop running Ubuntu was untouched. The details of the Apple and Adobe flaws will not be disclosed until the companies have released patches for them.
